Here are examples of questions to ask having to do with advancement, although all questions are welcome:

  • Lions: (Animal Kingdom, Mountain Lion, King of the Jungle): How do you provide service to our community? How can I help in an emergency? What should I do if I get separated from my family/den? What does it mean to be a good citizen?
  • Tigers: (Safe and Smart): What training was required for your job? When should I call 911 (ie.what type of emergency)? What happens when a 911 call comes in? Why is it important for me to know my address?
  • Wolves: (Council Fire, Hometown Heroes): Why did you decide to become a police officer? What is your favorite part of your job? What is the most difficult part? What was the scariest or most difficult day on the job? What keeps you coming back day after day? How did you prepare for this job? What training was required? Who is your hero? How does it make you feel to help others? What qualities does a person need to do your job?
  • Bears: (Paws for Action, Forensics): What does your job entail?  What skills are required to do your job?  What made you decide to become a police officer? What training was required? When should I call 911? What other numbers should I know in case of an emergeny? How do you use forensics to solve crimes? When are fingerprints used? Chromatography? Substance analysis? Security cameras? Do you use dogs to help gather evidence?
  • Webelos: (First Responder, Build My Own Hero): What background or training prepared you for this job? What types of specialty equipment do you use? What inspired you to become a police officer? Have you ever helped in an emergency situation when you were not on duty? What can a Scout do to be helpful in an emergency?
